Schoolboy bus stabbing victim named

A SCHOOLBOY stabbed on board a London bus has been named as Derek Boateng.

Boateng, from Hackney, was attaked on 393 bus in Highbury, north London in a reported 'school war' attack on his 16th birthday (April 23).

The teenager was knifed close to the gates of Highbury Grove School in Islington in an alleged ambush involving pupils from a rival school at 3.20pm.

He was treated at the scene before he was airlifted to hospital where he was reported to be in a critical but stable condition. He died late yesterday evening (April 24).

A boy, 15, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Tuesday. He has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at a north London police station.

An incident room has opened under Detective Chief Inspector Chris Jones of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.
