So Solid star enters Big Brother house

SOLID START: A suavely-dressed MC Harvey is hoping to win over the British viewers following a wave of negative publicity

AN EX-MEMBER of south London garage collective So Solid Crew has entered the Celebrity Big Brother house.

MC Harvey was the sixth housemate to walk through the doors after former Eastender Cheryl Fergison, ex-Coronation Street matriarch Julie Goodyear, Jersey Shore star Michael ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and glamour model Rhian Sugden.

As one of the founding members of So Solid Crew, Harvey enjoyed phenomenal chart success in 2001 with a string of hits including 21 Seconds, They Don’t know and Broken Silence.

He married Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon in 2005, then a member of R&B girl group Misteeq, but the pair later split following his affair with her friend, singer Javine Hylton. They too have split, but have a daughter together.

Former Big Brother and Ultimate Big Brother contestant Victor Ebuwa said via his Twitter account: "Sitch [The Situation] better watch out coz I know this guy personally & CHICKS LOVE THIS GUY. Any money Rhian will b on him."

He later added: "Any money 'Sitch' & Harvey will be this yrs BROMANCE!! Either that or they'll be enemies competing to see who's best looking."

Harvey has become a regular face on the reality TV circuit, appearing in shows including The Games and Come Dine With Me, both on Channel 4.

Harvey admitted to anticipating being booed by the crowd outside the Elstree Studio as a result of his publicised ‘love rat’ image.

His arrival on the show follows a war of words earlier this year with Geordie pop princess Cheryl Cole over an alleged romance. The Say My Name singer angrily confronted him on Twitter and denied any relationship.

Luckily for the So Solid member all appeared to be forgiven as he arrived to a warm reception looking dapper.

On Twitter, So Solid producer Megaman wrote: "How many likes can we get for So Solids Harvey Jr aka MC Harvey to WIN CBB - Celebrity Big Brother. #SolidLove"

He said his plan was to put aside all talk of his past mistakes and enjoy himself in the house.

The first moments of Harvey’s Big Brother journey saw him comforting a tearful Cheryl Fergison, unaware of her secret task by Big Brother to create drama in the house alongside Julie.

The rapping tough man showed his sensitive side as he nearly teared up in response to Cheryl’s emotional rant about missing her family. He said "wow", before giving her a comforting squeeze.

Other housemates who followed Harvey through Big Brother’s doors include infamous journalist Samantha Brick and Judo Olympian Ashley McKenzie.

Will Harvey find redemption or romance in the Big Brother house? Or form a gruesome twosome with The Situation? Join the debate as The Voice tracks his progress.

Celebrity Big Brother is on Channel Five nightly from 9pm
