Stormzy confirmed as first headliner for Glastonbury 2019

STORMZY HAS been confirmed as a headliner for Glastonbury in 2019.

The confirmation comes via a Glastonbury Free Press poster, which was displayed in a Oxfam shop in Streatham today.

The grime artist was one of the many rumoured to be headlining the event and according to the Evening Standard, festival site eFestivals claimed that they have had evidence that Stormzy is confirmed for the Friday night with either Childish Gambino or Liam Gallagher also set to perform that night.

There is speculation around what other acts will be headlining the celebrated festival, with rumours of Paul McCartney, Madonna, ABBA, Kylie Minogue and the Cure rumoured to perform.

Last year, Stormzy performed on the Other Stage during Glastonbury and reportedly drew a large crowd.

Glastonbury will take place Wednesday June 26 to Sunday June 30 2019 at Worthy Farm in Somerset.

News of Stormzy as a headliner for Glastonbury has drawn a mixed reaction on social media.

One Twitter user wrote: “Great choice. Stormzy is going to nail that Glastonbury headline spot. Wonderful to see the festival using their unique position to create new headliners rather than just recycling old ones.”

Another tweeted “So Stormzy is headlining Glastonbury. If that’s not selling it’s sole then what is? I’m not totally against him even performing on the Pyramid, he’d do a good set, but to headline it. The Rolling Stones, Bowie, The Who.... Stormzy.”
