Stormzy makes history after freestyle enters Top 40 Chart

GAME CHANGER: Award-winning grime star Stormzy

UNSIGNED GRIME artist Stormzy made chart history after he made the official Top 40 Chart with a freestyle.

In the midst of working on his forthcoming debut, and ahead of departing for his Australian tour this week, Stormzy unleashed the fourth and final installment of his WickedSkengMan freestyle series, WickedSkengman 4.

On Friday (Sept 18), WickedSkengman 4 entered the charts at No.18.

The track for the highest charting freestyle to date was Boy Better Know (BBK) member, JME, who peaked at No.41 with his 96 F**kries freestyle.

Speaking on the news, Stormzy said: "Thank you to every single one of my supporters.

"They are the real winners; because with no label, and no radio play, there's no way in hell I could of done this. It sounds very cliche; but from the heart… thank you. They're like family to me."

The 22-year-old added: “We've got a grime freestyle into the UK Top 20, history for us all."

Stormzy, who hails from south London, recently won a BET Award for Best International Act, as well as a MOBO Award for Best Grime Act.
