Teenage stabbing victim revealed

DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING the murder of a teenager in east London on May 9 have formally identified the victim.

Champion Ganda, 17, from Romford, Essex died from multiple stab wounds in Sandringham Road, Forest Gate.

While Champion was pronounced dead at the scene, a 16-year-old boy was also stabbed and taken to an east London hospital but was discharged on May 11.

Three males – aged 17, 18 and 21 – were arrested on May 9 on suspicion of murder and taken into police custody.

All three have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police have urged anyone with information into the fatal stabbing to come forward.

"At this stage it appears there was an altercation between the two victims and another group,” said DCI Whellams.

"We encourage any witnesses or anyone with information on the incident to come forward."
