INVESTIGATION: Police are appealing for witnesses after Michael Adu-Boahen, 15, fell from a tower block in Hackney

POLICE ARE appealing for witnesses after a teenage boy died after falling from the fifth floor of a tower block in Hackney.

Michael Adu-Boahen, 15, was pronounced dead at the scene in Lower Clapton's Nightingale Estate in Muir Road just before 8pm on Friday (May 31).

Det Sgt Paul Ridley, from Hackney CID, who is leading the enquiry, wants to speak to anyone who made contact with Michael on Friday.

“I would urge anyone who saw Michael falling from the building to contact me as a priority,” he said.

“It is vital that I build a picture of the last hours of Michael’s life.”

He added: “I am keeping an open mind as to the reasons behind this young man’s tragic death.”

A post-mortem was carried out and an inquest was opened at Poplar Coroners Court on Tuesday (June 4).

At this early stage, the death is not believed to be suspicious, but enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and request Hackney CID, or to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
