Tiffany Haddish granted Eritrean citizenship

OFFICIAL: Tiffany Haddish

AMERICAN COMEDIAN Tiffany Haddish has officially obtained her Eritrean citizenship.

The star - who was born to an African American mother and Eritrean father - celebrated her new citizenship after flying into the country late last week to celebrate the 29th Independence Day in Asmara.

While there, she was photographed by Ghideon Musa, who showed Haddish going through the relevant paperwork at what appeared to be a government office. She was seen draped in an Eritrean flag whilst completing the process.

Eritrean diplomat Hadnet Keleta then confirmed on Twitter that Haddish obtained her citizenship “in this very touching moment of our independence week.”

Haddish first visited the Horn of Africa nation in 2018 to meet relatives and bury her father’s remains.

Her father, Tsihaye Reda Haddish, entered the United states as a refugee, according to Face2Face Africa.

During her first visit, the 39-year-old actress was interviewed on Eritrean television and described the experience as “amazing.”

She also displayed her pride for her heritage at the Oscars where she attended wearing traditional Eritrean dress.
