Tiger Woods putts himself another trophy

CUP COLLECTOR: Tiger Woods holds the trophy after winning the Bridgestone Invitational golf tournament Sunday (PA)

WORLD NUMBER one Tiger Woods prepared for an assault on the final major of 2013, the US PGA Championship, with a comfortable victory in the Bridgestone Invitational.

Following a career-best equalling 61 on Friday, the American started the final round on Sunday, seven shots clear of the field and struggled to break a sweat as he coasted to his eighth title at Firestone Country Club in Ohio.

Finishing on 15 under par, the 14-time major winner led the field ahead of compatriot Keegan Bradley and Swede Henrik Stenson, who finished second and third respectively.

The 37-year-old’s seven shot victory reflects his great form going into Thursday’s US Open, where Woods will be looking for his first major win since 2008.
