Trevor Noah takes on 'Cornerstone Caroline'

COMEDIAN TREVOR Noah has responded to the seemingly increasing amount of incidents in the United States where black people are being reported to the police for simply going about their daily lives.

Video clips and reports of several cases where white women have called the police on black people for mundane activities such as having a barbecue, trying to gain access to their own apartments, or wearing sock in the pool, have caused outrage not only in America but also internationally.

The latest such story to capture people’s attention involves a woman, who online commenters have nicknamed “Cornerstone Caroline”, who claimed that a nine-year-old black child groped her.

Video footage has revealed that, contrary to the woman’s claims, it was in fact the boy’s backpack brushed against the woman as he was leaving the crowded store.

Noah used his Daily Show to share his feelings on the matter.

The Daily Show host drew comparisons between the latest highly publicised case and that of Emmett Till, the 14-year-old black boy who was lynched in Mississippi in 1955 after being falsely accused by a white woman.

According to reports, "Cornerstone Caroline" returned to the same store where she had made the claims a couple of days later and was met with members of the community who responded to her accusations.
