Trinidad & Tobago enjoy a "sweet" moment after 4x400m gold

SWEET: Trinidad & Tobago's 4x100m heroes

TRINIDAD & Tobago's victorious 4x400m team have described their Gold medal-winning effort at the World Athletics Championships as being a "sweet taste". The Caribbean outfit won the last event of the championships at the London stadium to shock the world - but not themselves.

Jarrin Solomon said:

"It was a big motivation to come here and win - give it big. We knew and we made sure that we set up the team correctly. We worked so hard and it means so much to our team. It has a special sweet taste for us this year."

Jareem Richards admitted:

"I just tried to go there and make sure we have the chance to execute well on the last leg."

Machel Cedenio added:

"We knew the US team are always strong and we were prepared for that. I feel just grateful now. I think it was the best experience of all my career. The London crowd is always so supportive, We came third in 2012 in the national record. Now it is Gold and I cannot ask for more."

Having seen off the favourites America, there was time for celebration for the men from T&T but it was only invite only.

"The party is a secret. No comments on celebration. We all have flights tomorrow and maybe seeing our managers," said Lalonde Gordon.
