The Voice at Buckingham Palace

ROYALTY: Steve Pope, far right, meets Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh

THE VOICE'S Steve Pope has said it was a "great honour" to be invited to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen.

Mr Pope, who last night (Nov 28) was selected from over 300 other journalists to personally speak with Her Majesty and members of the royal family at the glitzy affair to kick-start next year's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, said Prince Charles was familiar with our newspaper.

"It was a great honour for The Voice to be among the few guests who had more time to talk to the royal family," he said.

He continued: "Prince Charles knew about the paper and what we are about, and he talked about his trip to Tottenham following the August riots."

"He truly has a real interest in those who come from disadvantaged and inner city communities."

Mr Pope, who also met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during the two-hour visit, said "Buckingham Palace is as impressive as you can possibly imagine."
