West Brom boss wants Lukaku to stay

HOT FORM: Lukaku has been prolific for the Baggies

WEST BROMWICH Albion manager Steve Clarke insists he will fight to keep striker Romeu Lukaku at the Hawthorns for another season.

The Chelsea loanee has been in fine form this season, scoring 12 times for the Baggies who sit comfortably in seventh position in the Premier League.

The 19-year-old was brought from Belgium side Anderlecht for £18million in August 2011 by Chelsea, and despite not getting first team football for his parent club, Lukaku has been near unstoppable for good parts of the season with West Brom.

However, Clarke knows that he will face an uphill battle to keep him at West Brom as Chelsea have been troubled by the continual dip in form of striker Fernando Torres. This could potentially lead to the return of Lukaku to Stamford Bridge next season.

The West Brom manager said: “Chelsea are his parent club, he is their player and they will decide what they want to do first and foremost.

"Then, after that, hopefully we will get a chance to put ourselves in the hat.

"If Chelsea want to leave him out for another season somewhere, I think we would have a strong chance of getting him back here but it is a discussion for the summer.”
