When Cougars lose their teeth

SPLIT: Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore

WE HAVE all seen the pictures and read the stories about Demi Moore’s marriage breakdown with Ashton Kutcher.

I’m assuming we have because pictures of a rake thin Moore being rushed into hospital have been splashed across newspapers and celebrity magazines all over the world. Meanwhile her errant ex-husband Kutcher has been living it up large in Brazil.

It really is a tale of gender difference in how we deal with relationships which end – women mope, don’t eat and men simply have fun.

Yes, I know that sounds incredibly sexist. But it’s true and I make no apologies for saying it.

The difference here is that Demi Moore is almost 50. At her age she should be setting a better example to her daughters on how to deal with a break-up.  If the reports are correct, she is way too old to be sniffing or smoking some nitrous oxide and acting out over some man – husband or not.

What kind of message does that send out to her kids?  That when your man leaves you  break down to an unrecognisable heap?  Yes, cry me a river for a few weeks or so, but anything longer is pure indulgence and harming yourself in the process is pure stupidity.   There is no person on this earth let alone a fool man worth that type of self-damage.

Relationship break ups are, unfortunately, a fact of life.  It is something that most of us go through at some point in our life.  How surely do we learn the old adage “if someone is meant to be yours they will be.”

Or my mother’s own down to earth Jamaican counsel - if you can’t learn you must feel!

Few gave the couple’s May to December relationship much of a chance – for the doubters it was always going to be a case of when rather than if they split.

Personally, I think this is proof of how out of control this whole Cougar thing is.

All of these grown women think that they can handle these young playboys. She should have been mature enough in the first place to know that she needed a mature man. Instead, she made a mockery of the fact that she is a mother and a grown woman and decided to have some fun. I have no sympathy for her. Hopefully in rehab they will teach her about maturity.
