Woman tries to wheel out jewellery display case in buggy

CAUGHT IN THE ACT: Quashanda J Wolfe attempted to steal $9,000 worth of earrings in broad daylight

A TENNESSE WOMAN was busted by retail staff as she attempted to wheel an entire jewellery display unit out of a Kmart store using a pushchair in broad daylight.

According to reports, Quashanda J Wolfe, 34, tried to steal $9,000 (approx £5,965) worth of earrings in a display case valued at $200 (approx £133).

Records at the Kingsport Police Department state the incident occurred at approximately 11:20am Thursday morning (Mar 5), when a loss prevention officer at the store allegedly observed a female with wire cutters in the jewellery section.

Wolfe reportedly cut a security cable that was attached to a counter top display case, which contained 37 separate pairs of earrings, valued at $249.99 (approx £165) a piece.

The suspect then loaded the approximately three-foot tall glass container into her buggy - according to the loss prevention officer - and proceeded to wheel it out the front doors.

She was abruptly stopped in the breezeway and escorted to an office, with police called to respond to the scene, reported Times News.

Wolfe was arrested and charged with theft of property over $1,000 and vandalism.

After being transported to jail, the thief allegedly relayed her motive, claiming she planned to sell the the stolen goods so she could buy “stuff” for her child.
