Young man stabbed to death in Stratford shopping centre

INVESTIGATION: The police are appealing for witnesses

A YOUNG man has been stabbed to death in a Stratford shopping centre.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was attacked on Tuesday evening in east London.

A statement issued by the Metropolitan police said: “At this early stage, it is believed that the victim and a friend were involved in an altercation with a group of young males before he was stabbed.”

Police were called on Tuesday 20 March at 9.30pm to reports of a disturbance in Stratford Centre, The Broadway E15.

Police officers and the London Ambulance Service arrived at the scene and found the man suffering from stab injuries.

The emergency services attempted to treat the man but were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 10.30pm.

The victim’s next of kin have been informed of his death. A formal identification of the man is pending and a post mortem examination is due to take place.

A murder investigation has been launched by the Metropolitan police led by A/DCI Will Reynolds of the Met's homicide and major crime command.

No arrests have been made as of yet. The police’s enquiries are ongoing.

The unnamed man is the eighth person to be fatally shot or stabbed in London since last week Wednesday.
