Youngster has plan to light up the emirates

GROWTH: Chuks Aneke is working towards a bright future at the north London club

WITH THE inaugural season of the Under-21 Premier League having commenced on August 17, Arsenal’s Chuks Aneke can’t wait for his chance to show what he’s made of.

The striker told how he felt about making his debut against Shrewsbury Town in the League Cup, last September.

It is likely the 19-year-old will start against Bolton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium on August 20, and he knows consistency may give him another opportunity in the first team. They also entertain Blackburn Rovers at home on August 25.

He said: "That game [versus Shrewsbury] was just the tip of the iceberg for me, I want to go on to do bigger and better things for this club. I have a lot to achieve and accomplish this season."

After returning from injury he played ten games and scored six goals for the reserves, before travelling with the squad for pre-season in Malaysia; where he scored the winning goal against a select XI.

Aneke will also be part of the elite international Next Gen competition for the under-19’s, under the management of Terry Burton.

He continued: "I am 19 now, and I've been on tour with the first team so I can't complain! There are a good bunch of us who have come through the academy and are doing well at the moment, so I just hope I can keep progressing and get into the first team.

"I have matured as a player over the last few years. As you go through the ranks, you learn new things and the game becomes different. You have to adapt to that."
