HIRING: The People's Health Trust are recruiting for a new trustees

THE PEOPLE'S Health Trust is currently recruiting for new trustees and is encouraging applicants to come forward to fill the position.

People’s Health Trust believes in a world without health inequalities. Where we live and the conditions in which we live have a profound impact on our health and the health of those around us. The Trust believes that health inequality is a matter of profound and avoidable social injustice.

Sue Cohen, Chair of the board of trustees, commented: “Our work is centred in neighbourhoods with lower life expectancy. We focus on supporting local people to help make change happen; we work in partnership with local people and we don’t ‘do’ for them. We support residents to create the changes they feel are needed to make their neighbourhoods even better places to grow, live, work and age.”

The Trust has supported over 2,900 local organisations and over 500,000 local people to be more in control of the decisions which affect them every day. It has developed a long-term source of income and has received over £108m so far to address health inequalities in Great Britain.

We wish to improve the diversity of the board, and we are keen to receive applications from amongst various groups currently underrepresented, including people who are:
• Black, Asian, minority ethnic, refugee;
• disabled;
• living and/or working in the north of England;
• living and/or working in Wales;
• under 50 years of age;

There are three areas of expertise the Board is looking to fill at this time: wider social determinants of health, governance and evaluation and research. The successful candidate would also bring other individual experience relevant to a charity and act as ambassador for the Trust.
