Grace Carter delivers her first track of the year

2019 was a big year for the British artist and many are anticipating huge things for her in the future.

BLAME: Grace Carter

WITH OVER 170m plays on her catalogue so far as well a shows across the US, Asia and Europe (not to mention much-heralded festival appearances at Glastonbury, Made In America, SxSW, Latitude as well as tour supports with HAIM, Dua Lipa, Lewis Capaldi and Jorja Smith), Grace Carter is truly a talent whose profound emotional honesty and authenticity have allowed her to traverse global boundaries.

Now, the UK’s most powerful young voice returns with her first single of 2020, the gorgeous, slow-burning Blame, featuring acclaimed singer/songwriter Jacob Banks.

Poignant and endearingly passionate, Blame marks an exciting return to form for the artist whose searing honesty propelled her to the front of the public consciousness as well as 3rd in the BBC Sound Poll 2019, and is her first collaboration to date.

Speaking on the track, Grace says: “’For me this song is about my bad luck in relationships whether that be romantic or not, I would always blame myself for things not going to plan.

“Throughout my life I have often found myself alone and questioning where I went wrong.

“This song is about a specific situation where I realised it’s not always my fault and sometimes things just don’t work. It’s no one’s fault, it’s just not meant to be.”

In 2018, Grace released her debut EP Why Her Not Me. A striking exploration of pain and loss, the EP was inspired by her father’s absence from her life but it’s vulnerable meditation on relationships resonated with audiences and critics alike.

After finishing third on the BBC Sound Poll 2019, Grace has won applause from a diverse group of titles from The Fader to Sunday Times Culture, been playlisted across Radio 1 (where it hit the illustrious A-List) and Radio 2, and has seen her perform on Sunday Brunch last year.

Additionally, Grace has had the likes of Channel Tres and Jordan Rakei remix her tracks and her cover of Chris Izaak’s Wicked Games broke the record for most Shazams in 24 hours, a further testament to her ability to connect with listeners on a deep level.
