If there’s one thing that we’ve learned, it’s that a lockdown does not get easier the second time round. We hope that you’re all holding in there. To help you get through these very dark (literally the sun disappears at 5pm) we have compiled a list of Black British YouTubers to help you get through lockdown.
Nella Rose
No list of YouTubers would be complete without the queen that is Nella Rose. She became popular after hilarious videos with her friends and the personality has captured our hearts ever since.
A good place to start is this hilarious video about what it’s like to grow up Black in the UK.
Beta Squad
Now this isn’t strictly one YouTuber. It’s a group of guys who make videos where they are having so much fun we are not sure it’s allowed. They will definitely make you question whether you did young adulthood right the first time.
We think the video of when the group pretended to work at a McDonald’s Drive Thru should be your first. But most certainly not your last.
Chanel Ambrose
For those of us who are more mature, in age or in mind. Chanel Ambrose is the channel for you. The yummy mummy shares a bit of everything, so expect to find clothing hauls, gift guides or a chat with Chanel’s mum.
We personally enjoyed her house tour video, because it’s lovely to see Black people thriving during these difficult times.
Develop with Amina
Now, for those of you who want to use your lockdown to learn about a new career path, can we interest you in Develop with Amina. Most of her videos also include sign language interpreters.
To start with though, we recommend her video on what it was like to move out of home before marriage as a Black Muslim.
You Look Okay To Me
Jameisha Prescod raises awareness about what it’s like living with a chronic illness. Her videos are informative and beautifully formed too. This podcast will help you through lockdown because it might lead you to learn something about yourself. Without a doubt, it will teach you more about how to support others.
Our personal favourite video on the channel is is on ‘Things Not To Say To Someone With A Chronic Illness’
This is by no means an exhaustive list, so if you can think of any others, please mention them in the comments.
