Croydon’s Big John steps up

Billed as one of UK rap's next artists to watch, check out new track 'Dedication'

HAILING FROM Croydon’s “Fieldway” council estate, Big John started out making a name for himself in Grime.

But over the past few years he has been perfecting his craft in all areas of his music, incorporating singing and rapping into a fresh new sound that takes elements from the UK scene, as well as from across the Atlantic to create a refreshingly unique and all-embracing sound.

‘Dedication’ is the latest taste of that sound, fusing Big John’s varied influences and coming with an infectious chorus full of soulful vocals and nimble choruses that showcases Big John’s effortless flow.

The track is also plentiful in lyrical honesty that can only come from an artist with lived in experience of life on the estate, Big John’s music is as truthfully his as own as it is catchy.

Speaking on the track, he says “‘’Dedication’ is a song I wrote to motivate people like me in mad situations at home.

“Maybe with the police or with the Council or with work, anything.

“This song is to uplift them and to show them that with a bit of dedication anything is possible.””

Dedication’ also comes straight after Big John’s ‘Coachella Freestyle’, supported on Link Up TV here, which demonstrates further Big John’s skills as a wordsmith.

With these two new tracks, Big John has reintroduced himself as one of the hottest new acts on the scene, and one that demands your attention.
