East London's Bree Runway makes the BBC Music Sound of 2021 longlist

BREE RUNWAY: Set for a big 2021

BREE RUNWAY has been announced as one of the ten new artists included in the BBC Music Sound of 2021 longlist.

2020 has been an incredible year for the Hackney trailblazer – Bree has kept us entertained during lockdown, using her DIY ethos and creative vision to become one of the breakout stars of the year.

Having released three singles this year all accompanied with videos that have been meticulously put together by Bree –  the ferocious Apeshit, bad bitch anthem Damn Daniel and the powerful Gucci, she was also was invited by Rina Sawayama to feature on a remix of her single XS.

Last month Bree released her acclaimed debut Mixtape, 2000AND4EVA which defines her own genre-bending strand of ‘destructive pop’ and features collaborations with Maliibu Mitch, Yung Baby Tate, Rico Nasty and the legend that is Missy Elliot on recent single ATM.

Bree Runway represents a new generation of ‘the Black female in pop’ revolutionising what it means to break barriers. Using her platform and voice to speak on subjects like colourism, body image, self-belief, visibility and the inaccuracy of categorising Black women in particular music genres.

Bree is making it her own mission to start a new pop narrative and is set for a huge 2021.
