GIANTS IN their respective spheres, Mr Eazi and J Balvin bridge the worlds of afrobeats and reggaeton on the multi-lingual Killertunes-produced track, audio which dropped this month via Eazi’s Banku Music/emPawa Africa imprint.

Meji Alabi directed the brand-new video, which was shot across continents, with scenes filmed in London, England — Eazi’s homebase for much of 2020 — and at Balvin’s HQ in Colombia.

“We always wanted to do a video for this song but we were locked down in different parts of the world,” Mr Eazi says.

“It was beautiful linking up and coming up with this concept in a way where we were still in the video together, sharing the energy.

“It captures the entire mood of the song, and the dancers were super outstanding.”

Mr Eazi and J Balvin share “Lento” video

“Lento” is the third collaboration between the afropop superstar and urbano icon, and the first to see release as a single.

Mr Eazi and J Balvin previously teamed on “Como Un Bebé,” from J Balvin’s 2019 album Oasis with Bad Bunny, and “Arcoíris” from J Balvin’s Colores, which last month won the Latin Grammy for Best Urban Music Album.

“Every time I get to link up with my brother Mr. Eazi, it’s a blessing,” J Balvin says.

“We have such natural chemistry together on record and he proudly represents for Nigerian culture the way I represent for Colombia and the Latino Gang, so it feels like a perfect pairing every time.”

“Lento” follows “Oh My Gawd” with Major Lazer and Nicki Minaj and “French Kiss” featuring Tega Starr among recent singles from Mr Eazi. His forthcoming EP, Something Else, is currently slated for release in the first quarter of 2021.
