‘Confession’ from Charly Black

INSPIRED: Charly Black

A CONVERSATION about ‘stretch marks’ with a female friend was behind Dancehall hitmaker Charly Black new single titled ‘Confession’.

The track is the first single Black has released from his upcoming album, available later this month.

Known for such hits as “Party Animal”, which has amassed hundreds of millions of streams on Spotify since its release, Black has also become a household name in the global markets.

The singjay’s inventive melodies and impressive songwriting is on full display in this new single as he weaves a story of intimacy between two lovers. He is known for creating those special musical moments for women to enjoy themselves whether in a public party or an intimate setting.

The new track is featured on the Asian secrets’ rhythm and produced by Smoke Shop studio. Confession features a subtle Spanish string influenced dancehall vibe that provides the backdrop for Charly Black to do what he does best.

Speaking to the Voice about what inspired ‘Confession’, he said: “The inspiration behind the single came from a conversation I was having with a female and she was insecure about her stretch marks, even though she doesn’t have a child yet.

“So I was explaining to her that it’s not females with kids who have stretch marks only, and females get stretchmarks on various parts of their body.

“So the idea of complementing. a female about her stretch marks came from that conversation and inspiration from a female.”

‘Confession’ starts with the pulse raising, hard hitting rhythmic base that are signature for Black’s biggest hits, the Spanish influenced strings will no doubt ring true to his loyal Latin fans.

Meanwhile Black’s melody and lyrics compliments the hardcore dancehall bass, showcasing the authentic dancehall sound.

As one of the genre’s biggest ambassadors, Black has been able to paint a genuine sonic picture of the dancehall landscape in foreign markets.

Sharing why he felt his music had reached a global audience, he said: “I know that my success in my career is because I am a great writer and believe in my skills, there is also a place in the world for my sound and ideas.

“When I was writing “Party Animal”, I told the producer everything about how I wanted the song to sound. I remember the producer didn’t even want me to record on that rhythm and I told him this is what I want to voice on.

“So with my music I will always be relevant, I don’t need to create any animosity or controversy to be relevant in dancehall. If my music isn’t good I would not jump from 3.4 million listeners on Spotify to 4.9 million listeners in less than six months. Thanks to my fans.”
