No creative that needs help should be forgotten

THE ARTS Council England will this week open up the funding application process for individuals working in the cultural sector, including artists, creative practitioners and freelancers who will need it during the COVID-19 crisis.

There will be two rounds of this fund. You can apply to only one of these rounds.

Round one opens for applications on April 9, 2020 and applicants will need to register on Grantium by April 13 in order to make an application before the deadline of 12pm (midday) April 16.

Round two opens for applications on April 16, 2020 and applicants will need to register on Grantium by April 27 in order to make an application before the deadline of April 30.

If you apply to the first round you will not be able to apply to the second round, even if they are unable to offer you a grant in the first round.

Arts Council England will split their budget equally across both rounds. and advise creatives to only apply to the round that suits your circumstances best.

On their website the write: “Please note that, since this is an emergency response fund, our notice period for making and processing applications is much shorter than usual. We may need to adjust our timelines depending on the volume of applications we receive.  

“If you start an application for round one but don’t submit it, you will be able to access it when the portal opens for Round two. You will then be able to submit it in Round two.”

Applcants can expect gtats of up to £2500 if they are sccessful. Arts Council England have set aside £20M specifically for individual creatives as part of the overall £160 million of emergency funding available for those organisations and individuals who will need it during this crisis.

Creative practitioners whose main work is focused on these artforms and disciplines:

  • Music
  • Theatre
  • Dance
  • Visual Arts
  • Literature
  • Combined Arts
  • Museums practice
  • Libraries (activity that helps deliver the Universal Library Offers)

This work includes: choreographers, writers, translators, producers, editors, freelance educators in the disciplines and artforms we support, composers, directors, designers, artists, craft makers and curators.
