Actor, director, producer, filmmaker, and screenwriter, Lewis T. Powell has some advice for next year

ACTOR LEWIS T. Powell is encouraging those chasing their dreams in 2020 to focus and not to ‘waste your time on things that will not get you closer to your goals’.

Better known for his work alongside Halle Berry and Daniel Craig in the movie ‘Kings’ the Howard University graduate recently guest starred in the popular hit medical drama on NBC, ‘Chicago Med’.

Before becoming a critically-acclaimed actor, director, producer, filmmaker, and screenwriter, Powell was already known in the entertainment circles, as one of the most respected celebrity master barbers in town. Powell’s clients “graced by his tools” include 50 Cent, Outkast (Andre 3000, Big Boi), Dwayne Wade, John Singleton (R.I.P), Chris Paul, Master P, David Koechner, and Rockmond Dunbar, to name a few.

Known as ‘Lew’ to his friends, Powell is celebrating his 15th year in Hollywood, and his ground breaking film, ‘Padlock Men’ continues to net attention and accolades.

Giving the Voice Online eight pieces of advice for success, happiness and the New Year Powell said:

On the Journey of Life:

The journey is the experience and the experience is the journey. I believe if you aim for the sky, but move slowly, enjoying every step along the way, it is all those little steps that make the journey complete. Sometimes, it just takes a little longer to get to your destination, but if you make sure to enjoy the journey, eventually, you will get there.

On Success:

There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed. I’ve found that successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do.

On Opportunities:

Opportunities don’t happen, but rather you create your opportunities.

On Changing the World:

The ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones that can do it.

On the New Year:

New year – a new chapter, new verse, or just the same old thing?  Ultimately we write it.  The choice is ours.

On Progress:

All progress takes place outside of the comfort zone.

On Happiness:

Success is not the key to happiness.  Happiness is the key to success and if you love what you are doing, you will be successful.

On Focus:

Eliminate distractions, remain focused and know that all your dreams can come true, if you continue on your path. Don’t waste your time on things that will not get you closer to your goals.
