LEGENDARY JAMAICAN artist Frankie Paul has passed away. He died in hospital in Jamaica, after dealing with various health issues.

The sad news was confirmed by Paul’s sister, Tisha Clarke, who spoke to artist Wayne Lonesome about her brother’s death.

Lonesome went live on Facebook, and streamed the conversation between himself and Clarke, where she shared the news.

The clip has now received over 6.8k views, with many commentators sharing their condolences to the late reggae star.

This week, Clarke told The Gleaner that the latest bill she was issued regarding Paul’s hospital treatment was quoted as $1.4 million in outstanding payments. “I don’t have no more money because I have to buy prescriptions for him that they don’t have at the pharmacy,” she said.

According to Clarke, Paul had been a patient at the UHWI since April 2017, and was ill for an extended period of time.

UPDATE: Tisha Clarke, Frankie Paul’s sister, said the official time of death was 11:59 p.m. on Thursday (May 18). The cause of death was listed as sepsis, which is “the presence of bacteria (bacteremia), other infectious organisms, or toxins created by infectious organisms in the bloodstream, which spread throughout the body.”

Frankie, who was ailing for some time from kidney disease, had been slated to start dialysis this week, but Clarke said it was not done out of fear that he would have bled to death because his blood would not clot.
