Drake joins growing cannabis industry with new venture

The rapper is the latest in a roster of celebrities to launch a marijuana brand

NEW VENTURE: Drake

DRAKE HAS set his sights on a new scene with the launch of his own cannabis company.

The Canadian rapper has collaborated with Canopy Growth to become the owner of More Life Growth Co, which echoes the name of his 2017 mixtape, More Life

Prior to the release he teased a mystery new project earlier last week by having bouquets of flowers delivered to various radio and TV broadcast personalities across his hometown of Toronto, Canada. He also had people handing out blooms on the street.

According to Reuters, Drake has also taken a 60 per cent stake in the deal to “produce and distribute” the drug in a way that promotes “wellness, discovery and overall personal growth”.

“The opportunity to partner with a world-class company like Canopy Growth on a global scale is really exciting,” Drake shared in a statement.

“The idea of being able to build something special in an industry that is ever growing has been inspiring. More Life and More Blessings,” he added.

Canopy Growth Corporation CEO Mark Zekulin stated that the company was “inspired” by Drake’s vision in bringing “best-in-class” marijuana across the world.

Drake joins a long list of celebrities, including JAY-Z, Whoopi Goldberg and Snoop Dogg, who have their own cannabis businesses.
