Urban Development kick off 2020 with two seminars

Dont miss the Industry Take Over Seminar Series

WITH THE UK music industry already back in full swing for 2020, award-winning music development organisation Urban Development is upping the ante with the final two seminars of its latest Industry Take Over Seminar Series,

The first, titled The Independent Artist – Are Deals Still Needed, takes place on January 14, in partnership with AWAL, whose roster includes the likes of Little Simz, Snoh Alegra, AlunaGeorge, and Tom Misch, just to mention a few.

The panel will be led by their Senior Marketing Director Helen Barrass, who looks after artists such as Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Laura Marling, The Wombats, Todd Terje, and Bat For Lashes for AWAL.

The seminar will be exploring and explaining the current state of relationships between the artist and the record label, while taking a closer look at the major artists doing it independently within the industry, and answering whether record deals are still needed if artists can do it themselves, and how independent artists can progress on their own, among other topics, which will be relevant to the music industry in this new year and decade.

The second seminar of 2020 and the final one of the series, takes place on February 11. Urban Development, partnering with SheSaidSo, will discuss and investigate intersectionality in the music industry how your gender, race, sexual orientation and other forms of social stratification impact your career in music.

The seminar aptly titled Equal Opps or Nah will include speakers such as Renowned Management, artist manager and A&R Ella Bonai, Metropolis Music and Live Nation UK promoter Alexandra Ampofo.

Hosted by Capital Xtra’s Remel London, both seminar sessions will not only offer panel discussions and expert music industry panellists sharing their specialist knowledge, experiences and skills, but also a chance to ask questions in a dedicated Q&A segment, and very much desired networking opportunities, making Industry Take Over Seminar Series the foremost place to learn from, and exchange contact with industry movers and shakers, build peer-to-peer collaboration and mentoring, and start a music revolution.
