NEW MUSIC: Orion Sun, ‘Hold Space For Me’

The debut album pushes forth the genre-less idiom and includes previously released singles

FOLLOWING THE release of her standout singles “Lightning”, “Coffee For Dinner” and “Ne Me Quitte Pas (Don’t Leave Me)”, Philly-based New Jersey bred, multi-hyphenate Orion Sun has released her debut album Hold Space For Me out now.

The studio debut is an intimate and cathartic body of work spanning 11 tracks full of soothing lo-fi, intricate melodies influenced by jazz, hip-hop, and R&B production.

Having garnered support in the UK from Clash Magazine, GAL-DEM, Notion, COLORS, Schon, Wonderland Magazine, FACT and more, Orion has cemented her position as one of the most exciting newcomers on the scene; with an incredible body of work and an awe inspiring album.

The songs depict the profoundly personal and existential storytelling that Orion Sun is known for with stories surrounding tales of love, heartbreak, and obstacles that coincide with coming of age.

Speaking on the album and the process it took to create it, Orion shares: “Like every project I begin, I never know what the outcome will be. There is no plan other than to create something that draws from life experiences and feelings that I want to immortalise.

“Music is forever. I came up with the title for the album in bed. It came about after much reflection over the last 5-6 years in which so much has transpired.

“Whenever I moved it felt like I wouldn’t make it much longer. I was grateful for my friends and chosen family for the patience and love I received from them through such a vulnerable time in my life. Space was held for me.

“Space to cry, to scream, to run, to laugh, to escape, to process, and to feel. The album is one big fever dream.”
