RISING STAR: Chynna

FANS AND friends of A$AP Mob rapper Chynna have shared their public tributes to the 25-year-old in the wake of her death.

Chynna Rogers, known widely simply as Chynna, died in Philadelphia on Wednesday.

“Chynna was deeply loved and will be sorely missed,” her family said in a statement.

The cause of her death is unknown.

Among those who paid tribute to the young star were singer Kehlani.

She tweeted: “Chynna you were f***in hilarious bro… today was our last exchange of jokes & those I will miss the most. I can’t believe it [I don’t know] how to. I love you so very much. My heart is officially iced.”

“Rest easy Chynna. We gon [sic] miss you sis,” A$AP Mob tweeted.

A-Trak tweeted: “I can’t believe this. Not Chynna. Not my little sis.”

The rapper’s latest EP, titled In Case I Die First, was released in 2019.

“RIP Chynna. Showed mad love and was a very talented person. Damn,” AJ Tracey tweeted.

Her fans also posted their condolences on social media.

Chynna started off as a model, signing to Ford Models when she was 14 years old. Later she went on to work with the late A$AP Yams, who died in 2015, and started her career as a rapper and member of the A$AP Mob.

In a 2018 interview with Pitchfork, Chynna opened up about her struggles with drug addiction.

“Two or three years ago, I felt that I hadn’t gone through enough terrible stuff to deserve to have this as a career. I didn’t feel like I deserved to be making a living off talking about my life yet because I just couldn’t relate to enough people,” she said. “It wasn’t just the drug-addict thing, but also all the behaviours that come with it, all the situations you end up in, and the people you end up around just living that life.”
