Jones is ‘Giving It Up’

It's one of those tracks you can't help but feel good about when it plays and the remix isn't bad either

STAR; Jones

JONES LAUNCHED a new era in her career in style with the release of her single ‘Giving It Up’.

Added to key playlists across all major platforms the track also earned a rush of praise plus support at Radio 1 from Clara Amfo, Capital XTRA and Trevor Nelson at Radio 2.

‘Giving It Up’ is set for a second surge of attention due to Jones sharing her remix courtesy of Brixton’s Joe Hertz, whose credits include remixes of Years and Years, Mø, Tourist and more.

The groove remains organic and effervescent as Jones’ luxuriant soulful vocals soar and immediately command your attention.

‘Giving It Up’ is the second collaboration between Jones and Joe Hertz after she featured on his 2017 track Simple’. The single hit 6.5 million streams at Spotify.

“It was great to team up with my old friend Joe Hertz on this beautiful endless summer remix!” says Jones.

Raised by her mother in Aldgate, London, Jones spent her childhood immersed in the music of Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley, while early idols included Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.

Attending a local community arts centre as a teenager provided the impetus for her to delve into songwriting.

She often performed at open mic nights as a way of building her confidence as a live performer.

Nonetheless she made enough of an impression for one witness to be suitably impressed to introduce her to various people in the music industry.

That resulted in her first contract and the whirlwind of experiences that followed, including touring and recording with HONNE, sharing a table with Tom Jones ahead of her Jools Holland performance and headlining London’s Omeara.

Since then, Jones has focused on mastering her ability to own any genre she turns her hand to, be it pop, rock, delicate balladry or left-of-centre R&B.

Best known for early tracks including ‘Stay Lost’, ‘Playing For You’ and ‘Goodbye Kisses’, Joe Hertz has been described as a “firm one-to-watch” (The Line of Best Fit) and “one of London’s best young producers” (Wonderland) while drawing positive comparisons with J Dilla and Timbaland (Complex).

He’s now gearing up to release his hotly-tipped debut album Current Blues’ on July 17.
