Lazarus sets a precedence for what’s to come

The last couple of years have been progressive for this artist but he wants more, a lot more.

Kieron 'Lazarus'

SPEARHEADING THE release of his forthcoming EP, burgeoning London artist House of EL (aka Kieron McIntosh) releases his first single of 2020, ‘Lazarus’, this September 4.

‘Lazarus’ is a narrative lyrical abstraction, overcoming adversity and touches on ideas of humanity and hope, and is the title track of the EP

Having built firm foundations with 2018 releases ‘Hard Times’ and ‘Elijah’, featuring fellow London artists Jay Prince and Laura Mvula, House of El’s debut release of this year is a poignant one.

Carrying religious connotation, ‘Lazarus’ is a majestic statement of music guided by House of EL’s bold yet sombre tinged vocals, illuminating his natural aptitude for thought-evoking lyricism.

Speaking on the track, House of EL explains: “It all started from a weird orchestral sample I created at uni ages ago in a music pack I made for myself and then karma kid (who I worked with on this EP) helped me flip it.

“‘Lazarus’ is a narrative lyrical abstraction, overcoming adversity and touches on ideas of humanity and hope, and is the title track of the EP.”

Originally a jazz trumpeter, House of EL furthered his musicality as he moved into producing and song-writing, quickly establishing his credibility working with artists such as Plan B, Paloma Faith and Chase and Status before emerging with his own original material.

Aside from his own artist project, House of EL is an accomplished arranger and has lent his skill to many luminaries in the world of popular music over the years.

Taking inspiration from diverse angles in his own music – citing Massive Attack, Gorillaz, Joy Division, Bootsy Collins, Stevie Wonder as well as Miles Davis – House of EL is a unique creative force currently allowing for no musical comparisons to be made.

Speaking on his music, House of EL explains: “House of EL is genre agnostic, music for the soul  – music for the people – I get to blend all my experiences and create a soundtrack for life.

“I am setting the stage for further creativity and taking time to create a timeless artistic legacy that can hopefully stand next to the greats.”

‘Lazarus’ releases on House of EL’s own label WUNDERKIND and sets the precedence for what is to come not only from the forthcoming EP but from this exciting new talent whose undeniable prowess is set to leave a mark this 2020.
