Join in with Jyoti

Multi-instrumentalist Georgia Anne Muldrow aka Jyoti talks with Joel Campbell about 'Mama, You Can Bet!', life in 2020 and coining the phrase 'woke'.

ACCLAIMED GRAMMY-NOMINATED singer, songwriter and producer Georgia Anne Muldrow was keen to talk about Mama, You Can Bet!.

The solo jazz project comes after two previous Jyoti records, Denderah and Ocotea, the latter taking home the Gilles Peterson Worldwide Award for Best Jazz Album.

Muldrow, who was given the name Jyoti by the late, great Alice Coltrane, not only creates jazz music – she’s lived it since birth.

Her father Ronald Muldrow played alongside Eddie Harris while her mother, Rickie Byars, performed as lead singer of the New York Jazz Quartet and also sang with Pharoah Sanders Ensemble.

Following in her parents’ footsteps, she has collaborated with famed musicians including Robert Glasper, Adrian Yonge, Ambrose Akinmursire and Keyon Harrold.
