DANCEHALL SUPERSTAR Popcaan has left a moving tribute for slave ancestors at Elmina Castle in Ghana.

The Jamaican star left heart-shaped bouquet of red, black and green flowers at Elmina Castle, on the coast of Ghana.

The tribute had the message, which read “From Popcaan (Unruly)” wrapped around it, which caught the eye of fashion stylist and creative, Sarah-Alexis Amarteifio.

Ms Amarteifio shared a photograph of the flowers and captioned it: “Tributes left for slave ancestors in dungeons @Popcaanmusic” on her Instagram stories, which were then circulated widely on social media.

Speaking of the tribute left by the star and her time in Ghana, Ms Amarteifio wrote on Instagram: “So moved by what I have seen and learnt. I couldn’t possibly not share.”

The memorial is actually believed to be have been left when Popcaan visited the former slave dungeons in January 2020.

Elmina Castle is one of the historic castles and forts, which were used during the beginning of the horrific journey for Africans who were enslaved, during the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

For many, it was the last place in Ghana they saw before being forced onto ships across the Atlantic Ocean to work on plantations in The Caribbean, South America and the United States.

The Dancehall star has been in Ghana for the festive season and has been spotted at a series of exclusive parties with fellow entertainers Stefflon Don and Davido.

The award-winning artist is also scheduled to headline a concert at the Independence Stadium in The Gambia on January 15.

The Jamaican artist has surprised his Gambian fans with the concert announcement.

He first visited The Gambia in 2008.
