VoxAfrica TV partners with Ubongo for cultural animated content

Edu-cartoon's that reflect the audience that watch them set to air daily

A EDU-CARTOON that helps kids aged seven to 14-years-old find the joy in learning math, science, technology, engineering and live skills through fun, animated stories and catchy original songs is set to be shown daily on Vox Africa.

Ubongo Kids is a kids’ educational cartoon that follows the problem-solving adventures of the Ubongo Kids: five friends who love learning (STEM) subjects, life skills, and use their new knowledge to solve problems and mysteries in Kokotoa Village.

The shows airs daily on VoxAfrica UK 7.30am and 3.30pm [BST].

Ubongo Kids forms part of the broadcasters attempt to redress the dearth of African cartoon narratves and characters seen on television.

With majority of these animated content depicting its’ characters as Caucasian, children of African decent rarely have the privilege of recognising themselves in these characters.

In line with their aim to educate and entertain their audience through culturally relatable characters and content, VoxAfrica proudly announced las week its’ recent acquisition of the Ubongo content ‘Akili and me’ and ‘Ubonogo Kids’ in partnership with Ubongo.

Ride the rainbow to Lala Land, and join Akili and her friends on a magical learning adventure. Sing with numbers, dance with letters, draw, play and learn with Akili!

“Kids learn best when they are highly engaged and having fun,” said the Ubongo Team.

They added: “Our cartoons use engaging storylines in local languages, catchy songs, beautiful animation and beloved characters to educate and entertain kids… helping them learn and love learning.”

Akili and Me, which airs daily on VoxAfrica UK at 8am and 4pm [BST], is a preschool edu-cartoon that teaches three to six-year-olds numeracy, pre-literacy, English as a second language, art and socio-emotional skills, for holistic early childhood education.

A curious 4-year-old who lives with her family at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania, Akili, has a secret.

Every night when she falls asleep, she enters the magical world of Lala Land, where she and her animal friends learn all about language, letters, numbers and art, while developing kindness and coming to grips with their emotions and rapidly changing toddler lives.
