MEMBERS OF Britain’s gospel music community and singers from a gospel background have joined forces to record a song of hope to encourage the nation during this pandemic and period of self-isolation and lockdown.

The project is the brainchild of MOBO award winning gospel singer Lurine Cato. The Londoner said: “The nation is in a period of turmoil at the moment due to cornoravirus, lockdown and self- isolation.

“I felt inspired to bring the gospel artists and singers who love gospel together to record a song of hope and to also encourage greater unity amongst artists.

“We decided to record the classic hymn Great Is Thy Faithfulness because it is such an inspiring song. It’s a traditional hymn that will remind listeners that we can rely on God during difficult times.”

Lurine enlisted the support of producer/musician Kenton Reid and they got in contact with artists from across the UK, the Caribbean and Europe who all agreed to take part.

Recording

The roll call of artists that took part in the recording include Royal wedding lead singer Paul Lee, Kingdom choir member Wayne Ellington, X Factor runner-up Jaheme Douglas, X Factor finalist Shan Ako, former Voice contestants Roger Samuels, Janine Dyer, Jason Nicholas Porter and 2020 Voice participant Shezar, recording artist Tony Momrell, Brit award nominee Rachel McFarlane, Shezar, worship singers Yolanda Antonia, Noel Robinson and many more.

Other artists that took part in the recording are Faye Simpson, John Fisher, Ni-Cola, Donna Akodu, Clif’n’Marie, Hildia Campbell,  Isaiah Raymond, Wayne Ellington, Becca Folkes, CalledOut Music, Laia Badrenas, Christelle Pierron, Emmanuel Smith, Israel J Allen, Juanita Francis and MOBO award winner Volney Morgan.

The recording took seven days to complete and was released on March 30 across a range of social media platforms.

Lurine added: “I really hope that this song touches the heart of the nation, and that for a few minutes people will be inspired and be comforted in the fact that God will help us through these difficult times.”
