LONDON TRIO Bianca Bruce, Jennifer Okolo and Sadé Oludoyi, the creators of She’s In A Pod, are set to begin the third season of their podcast later this year.

The podcast and online community first launched in the spring of 2019 and was initiated Bianca. ”At the time, we all were running our own female empowerment initiatives. I wanted a podcast, an authentic and vulnerable platform for necessary conversations, that represented unity amongst young women, whilst simultaneously showing our individual strengths,” she said.

Season two was accompanied with the She’s in a Pod’s first sold out event and the growth of the podcast’s community. The season saw them discuss a variety of topics such as home ownership in your twenties, navigating through jealousy and envy within friendships, body confidence, and the pressures of settling down as young west African women.

The three women, who are all the Christian faith, believe their willingness to be honest and vulnerable about their journeys has been a fundamental factor in helping them build a community where other women feel safe and cared for.

Speaking out

During quarantine, they launched an online campaign called SIAP (She’s in a Pod) Stories, which encouraged their followers to share the raw and imperfect parts of their lives. The co-hosts led the way – Jennifer opened up about her battle with imposter syndrome, Sadé shared her struggle with confidence while experiencing severe skin issues, and Bianca spoke about how her faith in God has been affected since she lost her mum to breast cancer last year.

Sadé said: ”SIAP stories has provided a safe space for our community to share personal and insightful stories about their negative experiences. There is power in sharing your truth with other like minded females and I am glad that we are providing our listeners and supporters with the opportunity to do just that.”

The podcasters have already covered everything from mental health to money and they have even more planned for their next series.

Jennifer said: ”My hopes for season three is for us to solidify our presence in the podcast community by continuing to educate and inspire our listeners. We’re currently working on so many ways to build our brand and connections through our various platforms, so expect to see more of us both online and offline!”

You can listen to seasons one and two of She’s in a Pod on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts. Season three will be available in December.
