From doorstep destinations to places a little further afield, we’ve done the research to find you five of the best cities to travel to for the ultimate guys’ getaway.

1. Prague, Czech Republic

Prague is one of the most popular destinations for a group city break in Europe and with good reason. It offers the perfect blend of culture, history and nightlife, providing something for everyone amongst your guy mates. Spend your days exploring the sights of the historic Old Town, discovering the Jewish Quarter and climbing up to the impressive Prague Castle. At night, it’s time to sample some of the best beer in Europe as you hop from cellar bar to cellar bar, then onto the clubs around Wenceslas Square.

2. Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Amsterdam has a bit of a reputation for its nightlife, but it’s an incredible city to explore at any time of day. See who dares to ride on Europe’s highest swing at the top of the A’DAM Tower, book a party boat to take you along the city’s famous canal network, take a wander around the world-famous Red Light District, then head to the Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein areas to experience some of the best bars in the city.

3. Dublin, Ireland

The beauty of Dublin is that you can make a long weekend of it or, because it’s so close to home, you can even head over there just for the one night. Flights here are cheap, so all you need to do is find the best deal on hotels in Dublin and you’re away.

Visit the famous Guinness Storehouse then opt for a traditional Irish experience, sipping the black stuff in the Brazen Head, Dublin’s oldest bar. Alternatively, for a livelier nightlife experience, head to the Temple Bar area of the city where you’ll find buzzing bars and hear the sounds of both live folk music and upbeat DJ sets pumping out onto the streets.

4. Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon ticks all the boxes when it comes to great destinations for a guys’ getaway. Warm, Mediterranean weather? Check. Reasonable prices? Check. A vibrant nightlife? Double check. Ever-increasing in popularity, it’s equally as beautiful and cultural as it is lively and exciting. Aside from the city’s great bars and clubs, there are plenty of action-packed activities as well, to keep you entertained too. Why not book a group surf lesson, try your hand at coasteering or take a biking tour of the city?

5. Portland, OR, USA

If you’re looking for somewhere different and perhaps a little further afield, you should definitely give Portland, Oregon, some consideration. Aptly nicknamed ‘Beertown, USA’, Portland is home to more breweries than any other city in the world, making it a dream destination for a holiday with the guys.

Head off on a haunted pub tour around the Old Town District, take a ride on the BrewCycle for the ultimate brewery tour or get your passport stamped along Distillery Row. In the evenings, bar hop around the Pearl District or catch some live jazz or rock before making your way to the lively Entertainment District.
