Exciting drinks brand aims to pack a Punch

Three friends from North West London (Harlesden), had a vision to take freshly squeezed fruits, blend them with exciting Caribbean flavours and package them in recyclable plastic bottles.

No doubt that it sounds pretty straightforward? – Well the creators of Drip Punch will tell you that so far it has been anything but!. Yet the best part about the Drip Punch story is that when first made available to the public, the product sold a  record 120 bottles in 23 minutes, approximately  one bottle every 11.5 seconds, wow that’s some going.

Drip Punch is a small beverage manufacturing company that aims to make a big impact making artisanal cold pressed fruit punches. When Joshua (16), Jonathan (15) and Kevon (14) were in secondary school, they worked over the summer of 2018 to create their own fruit punch. Based on Joshua’s Grandmothers authentic recipe, the three boys wanted to manufacture a quality drinks product for their friends and family to enjoy. “We believe in making premium quality punches, made with freshly pressed juices for unique freshness and real flavour; whilst paying homage to our Caribbean heritage” Josh, Drip Punch CEO.

The boys immediately started to manufacture Drip Punch drinks during their summer holidays from a commercial kitchen, donated in – kind by the City Mission Youth Club. The boys then began to sell the drinks at local food markets and pre-Carnival events in the summer of 2018 and it was at one of these pre carnival events that the sale of just over 200 bottles in 23 minutes took place, it was an amazing achievement and feeling.

That same summer, they reinvested their profits to make 750 bottles to go to the Notting Hill Carnival where they sold out in just under two hours. Working on a small stall and competing with other more established food stalls, was an invaluable experience from which they learnt a lot. They used this experience plus support from Revo Seccus, Port Royal Patties, Beat FM 103.6 FM and Jae Gibbs of Empowering Purpose to continue refining the brand and are actively improving the product presentation to formally enter the commercial drinks market.

Going from strength to strength

Since then, the company have gone from strength to strength and currently have a small production unit and supply over 30 stores across London. The company now sells around 35 bottles an hour on average.

“Drip Punch is more than just a drink, it’s a movement.  It’s about overcoming adversity, being your best unique self and becoming the master of your own destiny. This is why some of our staff members are ex-gang members who are now in voluntary roles, employment or back in education. We want to continue sharing and inspiring other youths with our positive message and encourage them to be fearless and passionate about bringing their dreams to reality.” Joshua, Founder & CEO
