Meet London’s Latest Connecting Club For Black Women

Black Female Travellers LDN aims to empower women to travel

TRAVEL LOVERS: Black Female Travellers LDN

A NEW networking event uniting black women who love to travel has launched just in time for summer.

Black Female Travellers LDN (BFTLDN) is a safe space for women to share their stories, make new friends and find new travel buddies, providing meet-ups and panel discussions that aim to empower and inspire black women to travel.

The club have just announced plans to launch its monthly networking events, a space designed to empower black women on their journey around the globe. Monthly events will have guests share their stories and hear from experts who can help them with their first steps in exploring the world.

Whether attendees have a passport full of stamps or are yet to embark on their first solo trip – BFTLDN is open to black women of all ages with a passion for travel. The official launch date for the first event is July 4th2019.

Founder, Latoyah Prempeh, believes that BFTLDN will provide direct insight into what black female travellers want and their travel expectations as well as helping women with realistic travel goals.

She said: “Visibility within the travel & tourism industry, racism and a lack of resources can all be factors which stop black women from exploring the globe. With ethnic minority spending estimated to be £300 billion in the UK, brands are missing the opportunity to speak to black audiences and use inclusive marketing strategies.

“With the visible marker of skin colour and the added layer of being a female, travelling to destinations where it is easy to be identified as the minority can be off-putting for many who want to see the world without feeling like ‘the other’. It’s time for the travel industry to start taking notice of the spending power black women have and start including us in their marketing and messaging.”

Speakers for the event include Yasmin Boaitey, founder of Black Girl Nomads, Pauline Tomlin, consultant at NotJustTravel, Pelumi Nubi, iInfluencer and multi-award winning travel author Amanda Epe.

The night will include a panel discussion, Q&A and plans for future BFTLDN trips.

Tickets for the launch event are available through Eventbrite. Visit: https://bftldnjuly19.eventbrite.co.uk
