THE GOOGLE Digital Garage bus visit to Brent was hailed a success after delivering one-to-one training to 60 Brent residents and businesses.

The bus, run as part of Google’s free digital skills training initiative, arrived in Brent after Dawn Butler MP contacted Google to secure the visit. Residents and businesses were given free advice and coaching on their digital skills to help them find a job, or grow in their business, career or confidence.

The free skills bus delivered courses and one to one coaching on digital skills, on topics including ‘Build a Digital Marketing Plan’, ‘Intro to Digital Advertising’, ‘Social Media Strategy’ and ‘CV building’ as well as a range of other digital information all run by experts at Google UK.

Those unable to attend on the day were encouraged to visit g.co/digitalgarage to take advantage of their online resources and details of future Google courses.

Of the event, Dawn Butler MP said: “I was delighted by just how many local residents took advantage of the wonderful opportunity to learn from the experts on the Google bus. The advisors told me about the advice they gave on a whole host of different issues.

“However, earlier this week official Government figures were released to show that the unemployment in Brent Central has sadly begun to rise, with an increase of 3.8% over the course of the last year.

“These figures stress to me just how vital resources and opportunities like the Google Digital Garage can provide, I encourage everyone to visit the website to see what they have to offer there. And as your Member of Parliament I will continue to work tirelessly to deliver opportunities for all Brent residents and business.”
