Kevin Hart “doing very well” after California car crash

The comedian and actor was reported to have suffered “major back injuries” after the accident this month

INJURED: Kevin Hart

KEVIN HART is “doing very well” after being injured in a car crash in California earlier this month, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has said.

Speaking about his friend and fellow actor on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Johnson described Hart as a “lucky man”.

He said: “Everything is good…I spoke with Kevin – I connected with him today.”

Johnson went on to say: “And you know what? These things happen in life and thankfully he was strapped in nicely to his car seat.”

Hart had been scheduled to appear on The Kelly Clarkson Show as the former American Idol winner’s first guest. Unable to make the appearance as a result of the crash, Johnson replaced Hart, interrupting his honeymoon to do so.

Johnson, who has starred alongside Hart in a number of films, said he would be visiting his friend, who remains in hospital, soon.

“I wish him the best and a speedy recovery and I’m going to see him soon,” he said.

Providing an update on his condition last week, Hart’s wife, Eniko, told TMZ that the 40-year-old was “great” and “going to be just fine”.

The father-of-three has not yet spoken publicly about the incident.

The actor is reported to be slowly walking but in “extraordinary pain” after suffering three spinal fractures that required surgery, according to TMZ.

He is expected to require months of physical therapy.

Hart was a passenger in the vintage car, a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda he had bought himself to celebrate his 40th birthday earlier this year, when crash took place.

The car was being driven by Hart’s friend Jared Black, who was airlifted to hospital. Another passenger, Rebecca Broxterman, left the scene without serious injury.

Pictures of the crash showed the car’s roof was taken off in the collision and extensive damage to the exterior.
