NIMCO ALI OBE has said Sadiq Khan doesn’t care about knife crime because he knows the communities involved will always vote for him.

Appearing on LBC’s Cross Question show on Wednesday (December 4), Ali shared her thoughts on the London mayor, stating that Labour and Mr. Khan “don’t care” because “black communities in London all support Labour.”

“The people that are dying are young black men and the people stabbing these young black men are young black men. Black communities in London all support Labour,” she said.

“Labour don’t care. Sadiq Khan does not care because they are still going to keep voting for him.

“What the black and ethnic minority community needs to do is take their votes and vote for somebody who cares about them. If you move your votes away from the Labour Party, they will start caring.”

Iain Dale and the other panelists disagreed with Ali’s comments. Dale said to Ali: “It’s a very cynical view.

“You simply cannot say that. How can you say that Sadiq Khan simply doesn’t care that young black men die through knife crime? He’s not just the Mayor of London, he is a human being.”

Former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith added: “It’s wrong. I don’t think it’s helpful to say that because you are in a particular political party, you don’t care about knife crime.”

AWARDED

A day after appearing on LBC, Ali – a British social activist of Somali heritage – received an OBE on Thursday (December 5), for her work campaigning to end female genital mutilation (FGM).

Taking to Twitter, Ali said: “Today I went to Buckingham Palace to pick up my OBE from Prince Charles, who remembered me from the last time I met him. It was with his wife and we spoke about #FGM and today he asked me how it was going and “are we winning he asked” I told him we are but we need to do more.

Many took to social media to congratulate the activist. One Twitter user wrote: “Super! Well done! It’s a great acknowledgement of your contribution to the sector!”

Another said: “That is the most wonderful photo. Congratulations and a huge thank you for making so much progress on women’s health. Keep making waves.”

She’s actually right in what she said about Sadiq Khan & the Labour Party. The black community is at the bottom of the agenda for the mayor of London & the Party. Speaking as a Labour member I have seen that recently even in the way they have selected their parliamentary candidates. There’s a huge reduction in black selection especially in Kent out of 17 seats not one black person was selected. We black peoples don’t help ourselves. Tokenism is one of the tools they use to divide & conquer our communities
