TALENTED REGGAE Boy Ravel Morrison, desperate to get regular playing minutes in his quest to being selected for Jamaica, is on the radar of two struggling outfits.

With the end of the transfer window due to close just before midnight today (January 31), the 26-year-old midfielder could be given another lifeline to kick-start his career.

The journeyman, whose career has stalled due to on and off the pitch problems that began when he was a youngster at Manchester United, joined Premier League (PL) newcomers Sheffield United in July but has not been a regular.

INTEREST

Championship strugglers Middlesbrough and relegation-threatened De Haag are the clubs showing interest in the Jamaica wannabe.

Sheffield United have exceeded all expectations in their return to the top flight, and find themselves bidding for a place in European competition next season. However, Morrison has only made one PL appearance although was recently an unused substitute.

Manager Chris Wilder yesterday strengthened his squad with Norway midfielder Sander Berge from Belgian side Genk for a club record fee of £22m. And that leaves Morrison clearly surplus to requirements in Yorkshire. 

Yesterday Morrison unfollowed Sheffield United on Twitter, so leaving the club on deadline day appears highly likely.

CONSIDERED

Morrison is being considered by Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate as well as Alan Pardew, recently appointed manager with lowly Dutch top-tier team Den Haag.

Yet Morrison is deemed to be a gamble  wherever he goes because of his on-going attitude problems. Recent injuries have certainly limited his potential playing time with Sheffield United.

Morrison has only played 101 league games during a checkered career that included overseas stints in Italy, Mexico and Sweden. 

An exit from Sheffield United looks imminent, but a short-term deal with a new club could be on the cards. 

Whether he will fit in somewhere new remains questionable from his history, it is surely time to let his boots do the talking as he bids to make his dream come true and represent Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz.
