Last chance for Reggae Boy Morrison?

Middlesbrough have signed 'a quality player with plenty of experience'

DEADLINE DAY DEAL: Ravel Morrison

RAVEL MORRISON has signed a short-term loan with Championship strugglers Middlesbrough for the remainder of the season.

The 26-year-old midfielder, who has aspirations to represent Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz in their forthcoming FIFA 2022 World Cup, joined from Premier League outfit Sheffield United last night (January 31).

Since joining Sheffield United last July, the former Manchester United protégé has played just a single league game.

The journeyman, who has only ever played 101 games during his checkered career that included short stints in Italy, Mexico and Sweden, was deemed surplus to Sheffield United’s squad.

The outfit have made an impression on their return to the top flight, and are fighting for a place in European competition next season.

Morrison, who unfollowed the Premier League highfliers on Twitter this week and on the same social media platform followed Middlesbrough FC, is believed to have turned down offers from overseas clubs including Alan Pardew’s Dutch top-tier team Den Haag.

Middlesbrough FC website quoted manager Jonathan Woodgate about the arrival of Morrison: “He is a quality player with plenty of experience, and gives us something different.”

Morrison made just four first team appearances for Sheffield United, most recently in the FA Cup on 5 January, with Middlesbrough becoming his 11th club.
