Carnival cancellation explained

Matthew Phillip, Executive Director of Notting Hill Carnival Limited gives us some more detail behind the decision to cancel this years event

THE ORGANISERS of Notting Hill Carnival have cancelled the 2020 event due to COVID-19.

Putting out a statement earlier this week which highlighted the reasons for the decision organisers said ultimately ‘everyone’s health has to come first’.

The Voice sat down with Matthew Phillip, Executive Director of Notting Hill Carnival Limited who explained in more detail some of the reasons for cancelling the 2020 event.

    I appreciate what a hugely difficult decision it was to make.
    Love the point about the artistic directors and totally agree about using this time to teach carnival history and the names and stories of the pioneers.
