ME, MY Dad And The End Of The Rainbow is the Waterstones book of the month and by the authors own admission the acknowledgement by one of the biggest stores in the country made him cry.
Benjamin Dean’s children’s book tells the story of Archie, who together with his best friends, Bell and Seb, sets off on a heartwarming and unforgettable journey to try and fix his family, even if he has to break a few rules to do it.
Archie and his best friends are on a determined quest to understand his parents’ separation following a revelation from his father.
It’s Dean’s debut project and one he says is a piece of his heart.
Taking to social media he wrote: “So, uh, I’ve got some news? My debut book ME, MY DAD AND THE END OF THE RAINBOW is the @Waterstones children’s book of the month!
“It’s LGBTQ+ history month and a Black LGBTQ+ story is book of the month in the country’s biggest bookstores. I’m crying!”
Clearly overwhelmed and grateful that his endeavours have been positively received Dean, who many might know more for tweeting about Rihanna and LGBTQ+ culture, added on Twitter: “I spent so many weeks and months writing this book in Waterstones cafes hoping that one day I’d be lucky enough to see it on one of their shelves but never quite believing it’d happen.
“And now that little glimmer of hope, that little piece of my heart, is book of the month?”
