LITTLE MIX’S Leigh-Anne Pinnock will explore her experiences of racism and colourism as a black woman in the UK in a new documentary.

The singer will also look at wider race issues that run rife throughout the country, coming to believe society is profoundly racist.

The special documentary will follow Leigh-Anne as she meets with friends and family to discuss the ___ issue of racism, as well as seek advice from role models.

She will also confront her privileged position, having lighter skin and being a celebrity, and how she can use her platform to bring about change.

‘Systemic racism is complex’

Leigh-Anne said she has “always been passionate about the rights for black people”, and this documentary served as a way of standing up for the community.

She said: “Conversations surrounding racism and colourism are something I constantly have with my boyfriend and family, and as I have a platform, I want to use that platform to bring this conversation to a wider audience and stand up for my black and brown community. 

“Systemic racism is complex; through making this documentary I want to learn how I can best lend my voice to the debate so that the young people who look up to me won’t have to face what me and my generation have had to.”
