Big Zuu’s Big Eats – debut cookbook drops this year

EXPERIMENTING: Hyder, Big Zuu and Tubsey get up to all sorts on new food show on Dave

IF YOU didn’t catch his show on channel Dave and you’re not such a follower of the Grime artist on social media then you might not have known that Big Zuu has some serious skill in the kitchen.

Ever since his first experience in an actual kitchen, whipping up a roux in Food Tech GCSE, Big Zuu, aka The Roux Lord, has loved cooking.

From schooling his mum on how to cook fresh pasta, to working on the Nandos grill with lifelong friends and co-presenters Tubsey and Hyder, to his hit TV series on Dave, Big Zuu has been on an incredible journey with food.

His debut cookbook, Big Zuu’s Big Eats, accompanying a new 10-part series of his hit show, celebrates flavour, family and food with a West African twist.

With over 100 mouth-watering recipes infused with Zuu’s signature style, including dishes from the show, brand-new
originals, and Sierra Leonean classics inspired by the famous Mamma Zuu, these are authentic, easy recipes to get stuck in to.

From Doritos Fried Chicken, Sumac Sea Bass and Big Bang Broccoli to Mumma Zuu’s Jollof Rice, Vegan Doner Kebabs and Swedish Cinnamandem Buns, Big Zuu’s Big Eats is a flavour sensation.

Talking to the Voice last year ahead of his show he shared what set his cooking show apart from the rest.

“‘Big Zuu’s Big Eats’ is the show for people who don’t live near a Waitrose or who can’t afford to go to one. I’m a massive fan of all cooking programmes but I think this show stands out as we’re sourcing the food from local shops rather than big chains.

I’m hoping it proves to people, especially in my generation, that cooking can be a fun and affordable experience. A lot of people I know can’t be bothered to cook and think it costs too much so they’d rather just get fast food. Hopefully, BZBE’s can change that for some people.

“I also don’t think there are many shows where there is a grime MC with his two best mates, cooking for world famous comedians in a food truck! Haha!”

Big Zuu’s Big Eats – Debut cookbook from the hit Dave Show host, grime artist, and self-taught cook, with recipes inspired by his West African heritage available from BBC Books, June 3.
