New Mobile UW Customers Can Now Enjoy 4G and Wi-Fi Calling

MOBILE CONNECTINITY is the glue that holds our social lives together. Whether it was video calls to your family or calls from work, quality connections were a must during the pandemic. But even as life returns to some semblance of “normal,” connectivity is king. You need a reliable, high-quality connection if you want to get in touch with family, friends, and work on the go.

Utility Warehouse knows these modern conveniences aren’t a luxury: they’re a necessity as life becomes more unpredictable and mobile. For mobile users on 3G connections, though, connectivity and connection quality are still a concern. And if you’re in an area without a signal, it can be frustrating trying to get in touch with others when it matters most.

That’s why UW chose to upgrade its popular mobile tariffs at no additional charge to its customers. Starting in September of 2021, new UW customers can enjoy 4G Calling and Wi-Fi Calling. While UW subscribers already benefit from its leading mobile network coverage, these no-cost updates will improve call quality and connectivity no matter where you are.

All you need to enjoy 4G or Wi-Fi Calling is a compatible phone and SIM card. Learn more about UW’s new 4G experience and how Wi-Fi Calling works for life on the go.

The new 4G experience

4G is also called voice over LTE (VoLTE). This technology allows you to place voice calls using the higher-quality 4G LTE network. Before this upgrade, UW mobile plans connected to either a 2G or 3G network to place voice calls. Because calls and data can’t operate separately on a 2G network, this meant you couldn’t place calls and receive texts at the same time. Since everyone in your address book is likely trying to get in touch with you, 4G allows you to send and receive messages in near real-time.

Because 4G is 500X faster than 3G, this is a tremendous change that means you can enjoy faster, better calls. With 4G connectivity, you’ll be able to:

  • Host clear, crisp video calls.
  • Download files in just a few seconds.
  • Stream audio and video at higher resolutions.
  • Enjoy a stronger connection even in busy places, like a coffee shop.

If you’re sick of saying, “Can you hear me now?”, 4G Calling will give you a clearer sound at no additional cost.

Wi-Fi Calling

While 4G calling is a game-changer in terms of call quality, it doesn’t solve a common issue for mobile subscribers: dead spots. UW’s network covers 99% of the UK population, but occasionally there will be situations where you have a poor signal. Whether you’re traveling in the country or a certain room in your home is a signal dead spot, sometimes mobile users don’t have the connectivity they need to stay in touch.

That’s why UW rolled out Wi-Fi Calling for new mobile tariffs. Wi-Fi Calling allows you to send and receive phone calls and text messages even when you aren’t connected to the 2G, 3G, or 4G networks. All you need is a Wi-Fi connection to continue communicating with friends and family.

Before Wi-Fi Calling, UW added signal boosters throughout our mobile customers’ homes in an effort to remove dead spots. However, thanks to Wi-Fi Calling, you can enjoy a more seamless experience by connecting to either 2G, 3G, 4G, or Wi-Fi to complete your call. As long as you have Wi-Fi access, you can stay in touch with your network no matter where you are.

Improving call connectivity and quality across the UK

UW rolled out 4G and Wi-Fi calling in September of 2021 for its new mobile tariffs. 4G connectivity improves the quality of calls, videos, and streaming for UW customers who are on the go, while Wi-Fi Calling keeps mobile users in touch as long as they have a Wi-Fi connection.

These two innovative additions are part of UW’s dedication to the customer experience. New mobile customers can now enjoy 4G and Wi-Fi Calling at no additional cost. Thanks to its affordable prices and multiservice model, UW’s home services help you stay connected to the world, whether that’s through mobile service, broadband, or energy.
